Hymns

What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Saviour, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

What a joy, what a joy for us to say:
"We're on our way to the house of the Lord!"
What a joy, what a joy for us to say:
"We're on our way to the house of the Lord!"

Coming to Jerusalem, on this holy ground,
City mounted on a hill, its houses all around.

All the tribes of Israel, countless caravans,
Everyone is going there to where the temple stands.

Through your gates we'll enter in, open wide the door,
Here we'll find a welcome place and peace for evermore.

What child is this, who, laid to rest,
On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping?
This, this is Christ the king,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing;
Haste, haste to bring him laud,
The babe, the son of Mary!

Why lies he is such mean estate
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christian, fear; for sinners here
The silent word is pleading.
Nails, spear shall pierce him through,
The cross he borne for me, for you;
Hail, hail the word made flesh,
The babe, the son of Mary!

So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh;
Come, peasant, king, to own him.
The King of kings salvation brings;
Let loving hearts enthrone him.
Raise, raise the song on high,
The virgin sings her lullaby;
Joy, joy, for Christ is born,
The babe, the son of Mary!

What does it profit a man
If he gains the whole wide world
But suffers the loss of his soul?
Yes, suffers the loss of his soul?

I have spent my whole life in enjoyment,
Good food, good drinks, silk to wear,
With friends who like me let the moments pass
With never a thought or a care. But...

O Lord, I must rise in repentance.
Against Your love have I sinned.
But now is the time to return to You:
I know that Your word makes me free, for...

"Be never the slave of two masters:
You can't serve both God and gold.
Why worry about what to eat and drink?
Your Father knows all that you need", so...

"Provide yourselves with good purses
And save your riches in heaven,
Where thieves cannot reach neither moth destroy,
You must be rich in God's sight." So...

What have I done to you, my chosen people?
O tell me how have I offended you?
I led you out from slavery to freedom,
You led your God to die on the cross!
Though from the rock, I gave you saving water,
You gave me gall and vinegar to drink.

What more could I have done for you, my people?
I planted you to be my sweetest Vine.
But in my thirst your bitterness I tasted,
You pierced your Saviour's side with a lance!
I struck down kings, gave you a royal sceptre,
You placed upon my head a crown of thorns.

We praise you Christ, for by your blood you saved us.
We worship you and bless your holy name.
Have mercy Lord, and help us in our weakness,
For you are Strong, Immortal One, the Lord!
And by your cross and glorious resurrection
You have redeemed your people from their sins.

What Thanks O Lord can I render thee
For all the gifts thou has showered on me
Each day I'll sing of Thy Praise and Glory,
Allelu, Alleluia!

Give thanks to the Lord upon the harp
With a ten stringed lute sing him songs
O sing Him a song that is new,
Play loudly with all your skill

O sing to the glory of his name
Say to God: "How great are thy deeds!
Burnt offering to Thee I will bring
To Thee I will pay my vows"

Give thanks to the Lord for he is good,
Yes eternal is His love.
Though I walk in the midst of affliction
He stretches his hand to save.

Whatsoever you do to set your brother free,
Whatsoever you do to end his misery,
Whatsoever you do to bring him liberty,
Whatsoever you do, to  you do it unto me.

You see me hungry, lying on the footpath,
I need your love and care to quench your thirst,
I'm looking for some decent clothes and shelter,
O see the state I'm in, the very worst,
You'll find me in the hospital so weary,
Imprisoned by my loneliness so great,
The victim of mans cruel exploitation,
How can you ever leave me to my fate ?
Chorus.

Perhaps you'll help to find me some employment,
Or say a word to calm my anxious fears,
Be brave to fight with me against injustice,
Or sit by me and lend a listening ear,
At times I need a word of consolation,
The joy of seeing you standing by my side,
I promise that your love will be rewarded,
O come, you blessed and in heaven abide.
Chorus.
Whatsoever you do to the least of my people
That you do unto me.

OR

Whatsover you do to the least of my brothers
That you do unto me.
Whatsoever you do to the least of my sisters
That you do unto me.

When I was hungry, you gave me to eat;
When I was thirsty you gave me to drink.
Now enter into the home of my Father.

When I was weary, you helped me find rest;
When I was anxious, you calmed all my fears.
Now enter into the home of my Father.

When I was homeless, you opened your door;
When I was naked, you gave me your coat.
Now enter into the home of my Father.

When in a prison, you came to my cell;
When on a sickbed, you cared for my needs.
Now enter into the home of my Father.

When I was laughed at, you stood by my side;
When I was happy, you shared in my joy.
Now enter into the home of my Father.

When I look at the sky which you have made,
At the moon and the stars which you set into place;
I wonder why you think of me,
I wonder why you care.

Lord, O Lord, your greatness is seen,
In all your beautiful world.(x2)

When I look at the world which you have made
At the creatures on land and the fish in the sea,
When I know that you care for the smallest bird,
I know that you love me.

When I look into Your holiness
When I gaze into Your loveliness
When all things that surround become shadows
In the light of You

I worship You I worship You
The reason I live is to worship You (x2)

When I've found the joy of reaching Your heart
When my will becomes enthroned in Your love
When all things that surround become shadows
In the light of You

When I was hungry you gave me to eat,
When I was thirsty you gave me to drink,
When I was weary you helped me find rest;

Come to my kingdom of love,
Come to my kingdom of love.

When I was homeless you opened your door,
When I was naked you gave me your coat.
When on a sick bed you cared for my needs.

When I was laughed at you stood by my side;
When I was happy, you shared in my joy.
When I was worried you helped me find peace:

When I was fettered you came to my cell,
Hurt in a battle, you bound up my wounds,
Searching for kindness, you held out your hand:

When I was little you taught me to read,
When I was lonely you gave me your love,
When I was aged you brought me your smiles:

When the kindness of our God
Was revealed in Jesus,
With compassion and with love were we born.
In the spirit of that love life abounds with thankfulness,
For the gift we know in Jesus, the Christ.

Chorus:
May the grace of God be ever in our life;
With a song may gratitude become our home.
Alleluia, Alleluia. Alleluia, Alleluia.

As we look into the deep,
Silent spaces beyond time,
Hope is kindled bright for what we shall be.
For in all that we have seen,
Known and loved with eyes of faith
Shall be woven into life never to die.
Chorus

With the gentleness of peace,
Born in love of God as friend,
So much healing and forgiveness shall we know.
And with peace is sure to come
Such a deep, abiding joy
Which the many deaths of life cannot dispel.
Chorus

In diverse and sundry ways
Of the past did God reveal
Something of the love in which life can thrive.
But in Jesus did this love
Come to fullness for all time
And in him we are alive with spirit joy.
Chorus

When the sun has set, and the night is on
When the darkness falls and the light has gone
You be my light O Lord and lead me on (2)

When I’m growing weak and my steps are slow
When the hopes are bleak and I’ve strength no more
You be my strength O Lord and lead me on (2)

When my eyes grow dim and I cannot see
When a chance is slim of a friend for me,
You be my friend, O Lord, and lead me on (2)

When I cannot talk for there’s no one here
And I cannot walk through the end is near
You be my rest, O Lord, and lead me on (2)

Where love and charity are found,
God there abides.

The love of Christ has gathered us as one,
Rejoice in him with joy which he imparts;
Let us revere and love the living God
And love each other with sincere hearts.

And so when we are gathered here as one,
Let quarrels die and envious rancour cease;
Be our resolve all bitterness to shun
And in our midst be Christ, his love and peace.

Oh, lead us, Master, by your saving grace,
To where the blessed glory in your sight;
There let us see and love you face to face,
Gathered once more in everlasting light.

Where two or three are gathered in my name,
There am I, there am I.
Where two or three are gathered in my name,
There am I in their midst evermore.

As a Church we belong to Christ’s Body,
We’re a kingdom of love and charity,
We’re a city, a light to the nations,
Yes, the people of promise are we!

As a Body we grow strong together
When we focus our hearts on others’ needs.
When we hold up the banner for justice,
When we love not by words but deeds.

Wherever two or three are gathered in my name,
I will be with you the Lord proclaimed

Come, brothers, come, sisters,
gather round the Lord,
Come, brothers, come, sisters, hear his holy Word.
And he will bring us happiness
And he will bring us peace.
His goodness is eternal and his wonders never cease.

Come, brothers, come, sisters, come without delay,
Jesus, our Saviour is here with us today.
He said: "Where you are gathered,
I will be there with you."
This promise he has given and his word is always true.

Come, brothers, come, sisters, gather here to pray,
Sign to the Lord, he is here with us to stay.
So lift your hearts to Jesus
And he will always hear.
The words are not important, for meaning will be clear.

Wherever you go, I shall go
Wherever you live, so shall I live
Your people will be my people,
And your god will be my god, too.

Wherever you die, I shall die;
And there shall I be buried beside you
We will be together forever,
And our love will be the gift of our life

While shepherds watched their flocks by night,
All seated on the ground,
The angel of the Lord came down,
And glory shone around.

“Fear not!” said he, for mighty dread
Had seized their troubled mind;
“Glad tidings of great joy I bring
To you and all mankind.

“To you, in David’s town, this day
Is born of David’s line
A Saviour, who is Christ the Lord,
And this shall be the sign:

“The heavenly Babe you there shall find
To human view displayed,
All meanly wrapped in swathing bands,
And in a manger laid.”

Thus spoke the seraph and forthwith
Appeared a shining throng
Of angels praising God on high,
Who thus addressed their song:

“All glory be to God on high,
And to the Earth be peace;
Good will henceforth from heaven to men
Begin and never cease!”

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?

For tribulation danger or distress
Cannot make us love him less.

And in the face of peril or the sword,
We'll affirm that he is Lord.

Though we be persecuted for his sake,
There's no doubt his cross we'll take.

For Jesus is our Shepherd, he's our Friend,
We shall love him to the end.

And in the fight for justice we shall stand,
Knowing well he'll hold our hand.

For Christ is truly risen, as he said.
Jesus is no longer dead.

Who shall tarry in his tent? Who shall dwell upon his hill?
I shall show you what is good, what the Lord requires of you.

To do justice, to show kindness
And to walk humbly with your God.
To act rightly, to be blameless
And to speak truth from the heart.

Not to slander, nor do evil,
But to hold the godless in disdain.
Do no damage to your neighbour,
Honour those who fear the Lord.

Keep your promise, never swerving,
Do not take an interest on a loan.
Banish bribery and corruption
And the Lord will keep you firm.

With a song in our hearts we shall go on our way
To bring God's love to every one we meet today.

Love, love, love is his name. (x2)
Great, great, great is his name. (x2)

Peace...

Joy...

Without Him I could do nothing, without Him I'd surely fail
Without Him I would be drifting, like a ship without a sail

But with Him I could do all things, and with Him I cannot fail
And over the stormiest ocean, in perfect peace I’ll sail

Without seeing you, we love you:
Without seeing, we believe,
We rejoice in your glory, Lord, increase our faith!

Happy are they who, attentive to your Word,
Always follow your law,
And find freedom in doing your will.

Lord, to whom shall we go,
You alone have the words of eternal life.

Lord, we rejoice in the riches of our faith,
May, we treasure your word,
And your promise, take root in our hearts.

Lord, to whom shall we go,
You alone have the words of eternal life.

Worship, glory, praise and honour,
Worship and honour to God.
We, with many generations,
All join to honour your name.

O praise him, all the earth; O praise him, sun and moon,
O praise him, shining stars, O bless his glorious name,
O praise him, Israel, people of God, give praise,
 You, Sons of Israel, now bless your God!

Mountains and hills, give praise; plants of the earth, give praise,
Darkness and light, give praise, O bless his glorious name.
Fish of the sea, give praise, clouds of the sky, give praise,
Rivers and seas, give praise, now bless your God!

Birds of the sky, give praise, wild beasts and tame, give praise,
Works of the Lord, give praise, O bless his glorious name.
Angels of God, give praise, priests of the Lord, give praise,
Children of God, give praise, now bless your God!

To God the Father praise, to Christ his Son, give praise,
And Spirit holy, praise, we bless his glorious name.
May you be blest, O Lord, all glory be to you,
Glory to God most high, we bless our God!

Yes, I shall arise and return to my Father!
To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul,
In you, O my God, I place all my trust.

Look down on me, have mercy, O Lord,
Forgive me my sins, behold all my grief.

My heart and soul shall yearn for your face,
Be gracious to me and answer my plea.

Do not withhold your goodness from me;
O Lord, may your love be deep in my soul.

To you I pray, have pity on me;
My God, I have sinned against your great love.

Mercy I cry, O Lord, wash me clean,
And whiter than snow my spirit shall be.

Give me again the joy of your help;
Now open my lips, your praise I will sing.

Happy are they forgiven by God,
Their sins blotted out, their guilt is no more.
